BUSINESS CONTROL Successful Businesses Take Control through Effective Use of IT
Although every business is different, there are certain core activities which are common to all businesses. Every business needs to produce accounts and to pay its employees. These tasks are often seen as a burden on the business, and the use of IT to streamline these functions can certainly minimise the overhead that they represent. However, in the process, a vast amount of data about the business is gathered, and by harnessing the power of this data, successful companies take control of their business through the effective use of IT. We specialise in the supply and installation of Sage 50, the leading Accounts and Payroll software, and are accredited Sage Business Partners and Developers.
The production of Accounts involves the collection and manipulation of data about a business’s customers, suppliers, and products/services, together with a wealth of financial information about the business. These data hold vital information which is key to making the right management decisions, and which ultimately determines the success of a business. They can identify which customers are the most profitable to the business, which suppliers regularly deliver on time, which product lines are most profitable, which should be stocked and which should be deleted. This information and much much more is available from an Accounting system, and the key to business success often lies in unlocking and analysing the relevant data to provide the basis for correct decision taking.
An effective Payroll system ensures that employees are paid correctly and on time, and together with an effective Accounting System can help meet the statutory obligations of the business to HM revenue and Customs. However, it also contains a wealth of information needed for an effective HR system. As a source of employee details, holiday and absence records, and payment history, payroll data can be combined with employee qualifications, training records etc. to enable a business to effectively manage its workforce, which to many businesses represents their most valuable resource.
Accounts and Payroll software thus provide data sources for Business Management. In some cases they also provide the management tools themselves. An example would be Sales Order Processing, which enables direct control and management of sales orders within the Accounting Software. Often, as is the case with Stock Control, the management tools are provided and enhanced through powerful reporting capabilities within the Accounting Software. These can be further enhanced through strong links with Office Productivity software, such as Microsoft Word, to provide a means of disseminating marketing information to customers whose details are held within the Accounting System, or Microsoft Excel to provide graphs and charts of sales, financial information etc.
Additionally there are software products which are specifically designed to interface or integrate with Accounting or Payroll Systems These include Financial Forecasting, CRM and HR software. We supply and install Business Control software to meet all of these, and many other needs.
Of course there are many applications which do not draw on data from these core business activities, and we do not attempt to address all of these. We do supply and install some such software however, especially where the application could also be described as a core business activity such as email distribution. We also develop bespoke software to deal with specific requirements not addressed by standard products, and these can be stand alone, or linked to the Accounts or Payroll Software.
